For the 4th of July, we picked up some festive mini cupcakes from Buttercake Bakery in West L.A. to give to our friends in San Diego--we stayed at their place over the weekend. I tried the red velvet and the vanilla, and both were delicious. Our friends' dog seemed to enjoy the cupcakes as well--she got into the box while we were sleeping and ate three of them (and the wrappers o_O)!
One thing I really like about Buttercake is that their cupcakes are not too sweet. I did a taste test recently comparing Susie Cake's and Buttercake's red velvets, and Buttercakes definitely has a lot less sugar. Another thing I like about Buttercake is that it's such a cute tiny store--it definitely has the feel of a family owned bakery. Oh, and check out this adorable to-go box...
